BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Addressing the issue of colonialism globally, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Parliamentary Committee on Defense, Security, and Anti-Corruption Ziyafat Asgarov emphasized the continued challenges during a conference titled “French Polynesia’s right to decolonization: challenges and prospects” at the Azerbaijani parliament. Asgarov highlighted the centuries-long French colonization and how France manipulated the concepts of “justice” and “fraternity” to further its own agenda.
Questioning France’s presence 17,000 kilometers away in Polynesia, Asgarov called for respecting the autonomy of the region. He stressed the ongoing efforts to combat colonialism around the world.
