In a recent statement, the United States reiterated its view that Israel’s assault on Rafah in Gaza is still considered to be “limited in scope,” despite a weekend attack that resulted in a tragic loss of 45 lives as a fire ripped through a camp for displaced people. Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh addressed reporters, stating that the situation in Rafah is currently perceived as limited by the US government.
The strike by Israel sparked global outrage, with initial investigations suggesting the use of a smaller bomb. The US government is waiting for the Israeli Defense Forces to complete their investigation before making any further comments, but Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has already engaged in direct discussions with Israeli officials.
Although acknowledging the severity of the situation, Singh emphasized the need for continued dialogue between the US and Israeli governments. Despite the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Israel has received unwavering support from the US through substantial military aid.
