Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala announced that the Prague-led initiative to supply ammunition for Ukraine will send its first shipment of artillery shells in the coming days. The first delivery of tens of thousands of 155mm ammunitions is expected in June, with Ukraine receiving the initial shipment shortly.
The initiative, supported by 15 EU and NATO countries, has raised over €1.6 billion to provide Kyiv with ammunition and weapons from outside Europe. The collaboration aims to address the significant demand for 155mm shells in Ukraine, where about 200,000 are used monthly.
Prime Minister Fiala, along with other European leaders, made the announcement ahead of a NATO meeting in Prague to discuss accelerating supplies to Ukraine, including air-defense systems.
