Both the US and Egyptian governments are now being proven to be liars that remain complicit in Israel’s assault on Rafah.
The Israeli military targets Rafah, the last remaining stronghold in Gaza, after failed invasions in Gaza City and Khan Yunis. Despite being framed as a Hamas stronghold, Rafah was previously a safe haven for civilians.
Following false claims of Hamas headquarters in different locations, Israel sets sights on Rafah, citing alleged smuggling of weapons across the Egyptian border. The threat of invasion causes tension with Egypt, risking a breach in the Camp David agreement.
Despite international pressure and warnings of humanitarian consequences, Israel proceeds with the invasion of Rafah in May. Egypt’s silence and US arms support highlight complicity in the assault.
