WFP reports 30% drop in refugee aid value due to funding shortage

WFP announced a 30% decline in assistance to vulnerable refugees in Jordan due to a funding shortfall, providing food aid to 410,000 refugees in April at a reduced value of JD15 per person. Jordan hosts a large refugee population, straining resources and services, but has seen economic growth despite challenges.

WFP’s five-year Country Strategic Plan focuses on providing food aid, supporting social protection programs, and promoting education and nutrition. They also work on climate action initiatives to improve livelihoods and natural resource management.

In April, WFP conducted training sessions on the Food Security Management Information System and completed a Natural Resources Management project that improved food security for vulnerable Jordanians. They also delivered humanitarian relief to Gaza using trucks and airdrops.

Despite challenges, WFP remains committed to helping vulnerable populations in Jordan and Gaza through various initiatives, partnering with local organizations and government agencies to provide essential support.
