Israel’s Isolation Deepens Amid Gaza Conflict.
The conflict in Gaza has left Israel increasingly isolated, with Spain, Norway, and Ireland recently recognizing a unified Palestinian state. Israel’s Foreign Minister criticized Spain for allegedly supporting genocide against Jews.
By joining other UN member states in recognizing Palestine, Madrid, Dublin, and Oslo aim to facilitate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The move was welcomed by the Palestinian Authority, emphasizing the importance of a peaceful coexistence with Israel.
Spain, Norway, and Ireland hope their decisions will encourage other EU countries to follow suit, with Ireland officially recognizing a Palestinian state. Despite some nations considering recognition, Germany and the US advocate for a two-state solution through dialogue.
As tensions escalate, Israel has withdrawn ambassadors and accused Spain of aiding Hamas. However, Spain has urged EU members to support an ICJ order to halt Israel’s military actions in Gaza.
In a bid to ease tensions, Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez condemned Hamas and called for hostages’ release, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a good relationship with Israel.
