Poland will restrict the movements of Russian diplomats in response to Moscow’s “hybrid warfare,” as stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski during a press briefing in Brussels. The move comes after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, bringing war to Warsaw’s border.
Sikorski announced that Russian diplomats will be limited to travel within their assigned province, a decision made due to evidence of Russian involvement in authorizing sabotage within Poland. The restrictions will apply to all embassy and consulate personnel except the ambassador.
In response, Russia plans “retaliatory measures” against Poland, citing the Polish government’s alleged “Russophobia.” Relations between the two countries have deteriorated significantly, with recent arrests of individuals spying or planning sabotage on behalf of Russia within Poland.
The escalation in tensions is evident with increased security at the Ukrainian aid export hub in Poland and reports of Russia ramping up sabotage operations across Europe to undermine military aid to Ukraine.
