Poland is set to purchase JASSM-ER long-range cruise missiles for its F-16 fighter jets, in response to the conflict in Ukraine. The $735 million deal will be finalized on May 28, with deliveries scheduled between 2026-2030.
The decision comes as Poland reinforces its military capabilities following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The JASSM missiles have a range of approximately 1,000 kilometers, allowing Poland to target distant threats.
Additionally, Poland has deployed F-16 jets to protect its airspace from Russian attacks and is considering using air defense units to intercept incoming missiles. Prime Minister Donald Tusk also announced Poland’s participation in the Sky Shield Initiative for a pan-European air defense system.
Moreover, in collaboration with other Baltic countries, Poland is planning to create a ‘drone wall’ for border protection using drones and advanced technologies.
