Kogi assembly approves anti-graft bill — Nigeria — The Guardian Nigeria News

An exciting development is underway in Kogi State as an anti-corruption bill for the establishment of the Kogi State Anti-corruption Agency has passed through second reading in the state house of assembly. Sponsored by Assemblyman Suleiman Abdulrazak, member representing Okene Constituency, the bill aims to assist the government in combating corruption in the state without competing with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

During the debate, Assemblyman Enefola Major emphasized the need for Nigerians to collectively rise and fight against corruption for the country to progress economically. The Speaker, Assemblyman Umar Yusuf, commended the bill, highlighting its importance in assisting lawmakers in carrying out oversight functions and preventing corruption.

Once passed into law, the bill will not only collaborate with federal bodies but also make the society a better place. It has been forwarded to the House Committee on Judiciary and Legal Matters for further scrutiny, paving the way for a more transparent and accountable government in Kogi State.
