ODT Calls for Rescinding Age Limit for Education Sector Recruitment

DLO urges Gov’t to remove age requirement for education jobs

The Democratic Labor Organisation (ODT) has raised concerns over the decision to limit the age of application to 30 for recruitment in the education sector. In a recent press release, ODT demanded equality and fairness in the recruitment process, emphasizing that the Ministry of National Education’s decision will unjustly exclude many qualified young graduates from official recruitment opportunities.

ODT argued that the age restriction violates the Constitution and organic law, undermining the principles of equality in recruitment within the Ministry and regional academies. The organization highlighted that the decision fails to consider Morocco’s demographic characteristics and contradicts the government’s efforts to enhance the quality of education.

With reports from the High Commissioner for Planning (HCP) indicating a high percentage of young people under 30 in Morocco’s population, ODT urged the government to reconsider the age limit. The organization emphasized that the clause would further restrict university graduates from accessing teaching positions, perpetuating unemployment issues.

ODT has called upon the Head of Government and the Minister of National Education to revoke the age restriction and amend the relevant regulations to provide equal opportunities for all candidates interested in the education sector.
