Vancouver School Board to Consider Limiting Cellphone Use in BC Schools

Vancouver School Board trustees are considering implementing restrictions on cell phones in schools, with a motion proposed by board chair Victoria Jung. The motion includes keeping phones on silent and out of sight for students up to Grade 6 during school hours. Despite being sent back to the board due to a lack of quorum in the education plan committee meeting, the province mandates all school districts to introduce cell phone restrictions before the next school year.

Quebec already has a ban on cell phones in schools, except for educational purposes, making it the second province in Canada to enforce such strict rules after Ontario. This move aims to minimize distractions and promote a more focused learning environment for students.
