Massive Rally in Armenia over Land Transfer to Azerbaijan – Other Media Updates

Protests erupted in the Caucasus nation as the government agreed to hand over territory controlled since the 1990s to Baku. The ceded area is crucial for landlocked Armenia as it controls sections of a vital highway to Georgia. Residents of nearby settlements are outraged, claiming the move isolates them and accuse Pashinyan of giving away territory without gain.

In a move to normalize ties with Azerbaijan, Yerevan returned four border villages seized decades ago. Thousands gathered in Yerevan’s central Republic Square led by archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, demanding change and protesting Pashinyan’s actions.

Galstanyan is seeking to impeach Pashinyan, advocating for snap parliamentary elections. Opposition parties need support to launch the impeachment process. Last year, Azerbaijan regained control of Karabakh in a swift offensive, forcing the entire Armenian population to flee to Armenia.
