The bustling Oshodi Market in Lagos is set to undergo a major transformation as the Lagos State Government gears up to begin the demolition process on July 30. This announcement was made by the General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, Gbolahan Oki, who emphasized the removal of illegal structures and extensions that pose a threat to public safety and obstruct the flow of movement in the area.

Oki highlighted the urgency of the situation, stating that the deadline for demolition compensation is fast approaching, and all unauthorized attachments must be removed to ensure compliance with regulations. He urged traders to take advantage of the amnesty period provided by Governor Babatunde Sanwo-Olu to regularize their building plans and avoid penalties.

The Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Kehinde Oloyede, reiterated the importance of accessibility in markets and emphasized the need for a clear path for emergency services. The partnership between the local government and LASBCA aims to improve safety and compliance in the area, with a focus on sustainable development and adherence to regulations.
