Tim Scott falsely accuses Biden of resegregating schools | US elections 2024

The Trump campaign is intensifying its efforts to attract Black and minority voters, with a potential vice-presidential candidate falsely claiming that Joe Biden is resegregating US public schools. Tim Scott, a US senator from South Carolina, accused Biden of supporting educational segregation during an appearance on CNN. Scott, who is African American and aspiring to be on Trump’s ticket, argued for “four more years of common sense under Donald Trump” instead of “four more years of segregation under Joe Biden.”

However, Scott’s claims were questioned by recent research showing that charter schools, which he said promote diversity, have actually contributed to the resegregation of schools. Trump, aiming to sway Black voters away from the Democratic party, held a rally in a diverse area where he criticized immigration policies for negatively impacting minority communities.

Despite Trump’s appeals, recent polls indicate an increase in support from Black voters for him. In response, the Biden campaign has launched negative ads targeting Trump’s alleged history of racism. This political back-and-forth highlights the importance of minority voters in the upcoming election.
