Sonia Gandhi and Delhi CM Kejriwal vote for rival candidates – World

India’s lengthy election process reached its penultimate phase with Sonia Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal showcasing a new sense of unity by supporting each other’s candidates in Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swept all seven seats in 2014 and 2019, but the opposition is hopeful for a change. The sixth phase included states like Bihar, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, with the final phase focusing on battleground states.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains confident, claiming victory even before all seats are accounted for. However, Opposition parties such as INDIA bloc and Congress are rallying support against the ruling party, citing an undercurrent of discontent among the public. Voter turnout in Delhi was recorded at 53.73%, with various prominent politicians and their families casting votes. Former student leader Kanhaiya Kumar is also in the race, amidst concerns of religious polarization.

As the election saga continues, the future of Indian politics hangs in the balance, with the final phase set to determine the course of the nation’s leadership.\
