Russia is outpacing Ukraine’s allies in artillery shell production, producing them faster and at a lower cost, according to a report from management consulting firm Bain & Company. This has resulted in a shortage of artillery shells for Ukraine, hindering their progress on the battlefield.
Despite this, Ukrainian soldiers are making every round count and are effectively targeting their enemies. Various initiatives, including a Czech-led effort and EU funding, aim to increase shell production capacity in the region. Additionally, Ukraine plans to start producing NATO-standard shells domestically by the second half of 2024.
