Argentina has announced its plans to join the international coalition advocating for the return of Ukrainian children forcibly deported from Russia. Since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, over 19,500 Ukrainian children have been abducted, with less than 400 returned home. The Ukrainian delegation, led by Daria Herasymchuk, visited Argentina as part of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s initiative, Bring Kids Back UA. The delegation engaged with various stakeholders in Argentina, expressing the importance of collective efforts to safeguard kidnapped children worldwide.
Argentina aims to formalize its participation in the coalition soon, with legislators already submitting a draft declaration to parliament. This development comes ahead of a potential visit by Argentina’s president, Javier Milei, to Kyiv in June, marking a significant gesture of solidarity. The effort to bring back Ukrainian children from Russia has also received support from Qatar as a mediator between the two nations.
