During the day, there were 95 clashes on the front lines, with over half of them occurring on two key directions, Kupyansk and Pokrovsky. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on the battle situation as of 10:30 pm on Sunday, May 26.
“There have been 95 military clashes since the beginning of the day. The situation remains most intense on the Kupyansk and Pokrovsky directions. More than half of today’s battles took place there,” the General Staff announced.
The Russian aggressor is attempting to use its numerical and technical superiority along with air support. Ukrainian soldiers are engaging the enemy and, on some key directions, undertaking successful assault operations to improve defense stability and regain positions. Today, the Air Force, missile forces, and artillery hit 16 enemy troop concentration areas.
Throughout the day, the Russians launched four missile strikes with 14 missiles, conducted 46 air strikes with 69 guided aerial bombs, and deployed 311 kamikaze drones. They fired over 2600 shots at defense positions and civilian areas with various types of weaponry.
On the Kharkiv direction, there were 12 military clashes. 10 attacks were repelled in the areas of Lypci and Ternova villages, with ongoing battles in Vovchansk and Staritsa areas. The situation is under control with no position losses reported. The occupiers suffered 118 casualties today, with Ukrainian forces destroying two tanks, seven drones, eight vehicles, and four pieces of specialized equipment.
On the Kupyansk direction, the Russians made 22 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions. Battles took place in areas near settlements such as Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Novoevorivka, Druzhelubivka, Grekivka, and Nevske. Combats were ongoing near Petropavlivka, Berestove, and Novoevorivka as of the latest update. The situation is under control.
The enemy suffered 69 casualties on the Kupyansk direction today. A Russian AD system and two howitzers were destroyed, while another artillery system was damaged.
On the Liman direction, three attempts by occupiers to advance were repelled. Battle continues in the Terniv area.
On the Kramatorsk direction, a Russian attack near Ivanivka was repelled. Another clash is ongoing in the Andriivka area. The situation is under control by defense forces.
On the Pokrovsk direction, the Russians continued their attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses near Ocheretine with four ongoing attacks. Battles are also taking place near Sokol and Umansky. In total, 31 military clashes occurred on this direction. Ukrainian defenders are taking active measures to stabilize the situation.
On other directions, there have been no significant changes, noted the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
