The recent events in Kano State have taken a dramatic turn as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has issued a directive for the immediate arrest of the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero. This action comes after Bayero’s attempt to forcefully return to the palace, creating tension in the state.
In a statement by the Director General of Media and Publicity at Government House, Kano, Sanusi Tofa, Governor Yusuf accused Bayero of disturbing public peace and jeopardizing the relative peace enjoyed by the state. The deposed Emir was reportedly smuggled into Kano city the previous night in defiance of his dethronement by the governor.
The statement further revealed that the new Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, was escorted to the palace in the early hours of the morning by top government officials. As the Chief Security Officer of the state, Governor Yusuf has directed the Commissioner of Police to apprehend Bayero promptly.
