Atiku: Sending soldiers to Kano violates constitution

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly criticized the federal government’s deployment of soldiers to Kano following Alhaji Ado Bayero’s deposition as the emir, stating that it goes against the nation’s Constitution.

In a statement released by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election expressed his concern over the disruption of peace and security in the state due to the deployment.

Atiku emphasized that the actions taken by the Kano State House of Assembly and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf were in line with the Constitution’s provisions, and criticized the involvement of the federal government and military in the return of the former emir.

He stressed the long history of peace in Kano and warned that any attempt to destabilize it would be met with resistance, holding the federal government accountable for any potential violence in the state.

Atiku’s statement highlights the need for respecting the rule of law and maintaining peace in Kano, urging the government to uphold the integrity of institutions and refrain from actions that may incite unrest.
