BISHKEK (Sputnik) – The West is attempting to establish influence in Central Asia by pressuring CIS countries, as stated by Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Alexander Bortnikov.
Bortnikov mentioned at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of CIS member states in Bishkek that the West aims to gain a strategic position in Central Asia to exert control over the region. By imposing various cooperation formats in defense, security, and applying political and economic pressure on CIS leaders, the West seeks dominance.
