Ukrainian authorities have ordered the evacuation of 123 children from 36 settlements in the northeastern Kharkiv Oblast, amidst escalating tensions with Russian forces. Over 11,000 people have already been evacuated since the new offensive began on May 10.

Local authorities plan to evacuate orphans and children deprived of parental care to safety within 60 days. Despite the intense situation, there are currently no plans to evacuate Kharkiv, the regional capital.

President Zelensky stated that Russia’s offensive could be the beginning of multiple waves, possibly targeting Kharkiv. The city has already faced significant damage, with reports of being Ukraine’s most-bombed major city.
