In a momentous announcement, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reinstated Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano, marking a significant shift in the region’s leadership. Governor Yusuf also issued an ultimatum to Aminu Ado Bayero and four other former first-class chiefs to vacate the palace within 48 hours and surrender all emirate property to the Deputy Governor’s office.
The decision came shortly after Governor Yusuf signed the Kano State Emirate (Repeal) bill into law, effectively abolishing the five emirates established by former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. The new law mandates the demotion of Aminu Ado Bayero and the reinstatement of Sanusi to the throne, underscoring the government’s commitment to restoring peace and prosperity in the region.
By signing the bill, Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of bringing development closer to the people and fostering socio-economic progress. He urged the populace to support his administration in delivering infrastructural advancements that will propel Kano to greater heights, solidifying the legacy of the revered Kano emirate.
