Uruguayan authorities have declared a 120-day agricultural emergency to cope with severe floods affecting parts of the country. The emergency follows a similar weather phenomenon in the Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Sul. Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries Minister Fernando Mattos signed the decree to allocate resources for affected producers.

No fatalities have been reported in Uruguay, but evacuations were necessary for 3,000 people. Livestock and crops have been impacted, with cattle suffering weight loss and health issues. Infrastructure damage and losses in rice and soybean crops are also being assessed.
