ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 23 – Turkmenistan places great importance on cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) as a key aspect of its foreign policy strategy. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized this during a meeting with CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev in Ashgabat.
Preparations for the upcoming CIS Council of Heads of Government meeting have been extensive, with Turkmenistan working closely with the CIS Executive Committee. Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the meeting will facilitate discussions on key areas of cooperation within the CIS and further strengthen multilateral ties.
As an associate member of the CIS, Turkmenistan actively engages in economic, cultural, and humanitarian programs, hosting various CIS events. The country aims to enhance dialogue to bolster friendship and cooperation among CIS nations.
With a focus on regional development, Turkmenistan continues to deepen its economic, political, and cultural partnerships within the CIS through joint projects in energy, transport, and trade. The collaboration with CIS countries remains a priority for Turkmenistan’s foreign relations.
