Armenia, with its low carbon emissions and affordable electricity, is poised to embrace this green transition. With initiatives like day/night tariffs and regulatory support for charging stations, the country is paving the way for electric vehicle adoption.
The benefits are vast, from economic savings on oil imports to improved air quality and health outcomes. To fully capitalize on this potential, Armenia should implement a comprehensive policy framework. This includes extending tax incentives, tightening emission standards, expanding charging infrastructure, introducing electric public mobility, investing in maintenance facilities, and ramping up renewable energy production.
With concessional resources from partners like the Asian Development Bank, Armenia can strategically position itself as a leader in sustainable transportation. By embracing electric vehicles, the country can not only combat climate change but also enhance the quality of life for its citizens.
