Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is confident that his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a significant victory in the ongoing parliamentary elections, paving the way for his return to office for a third term. In an interview with The Economic Times, Modi expressed his belief that the BJP will achieve a “historic mandate” by winning over 272 out of 543 seats in the lower house of the parliament.
The election, which concludes on June 1 with results expected on June 4, has seen Modi’s party making gains in southern and eastern regions of India. Modi highlighted the BJP’s improved performance in states like Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal, and Odisha. Despite facing opposition alliances, Modi remains optimistic about the BJP’s prospects.
Addressing concerns about market volatility, Modi reassured that his government has implemented reforms and maintained fiscal stability. He predicts that as BJP secures a majority, the stock market will reach new record highs on June 4.
