Need for Peace with Azerbaijan is Urgent, but Current Negotiations are Premature

In a recent press briefing, Seyran Ohanyan, head of the opposition Armenia Faction of the National Assembly and former defense minister of Armenia, criticized Azerbaijan for acting only in its own interests. Ohanyan highlighted Azerbaijan’s inconsistent border delimitation stance towards Armenia’s Tavush Province, stating that Azerbaijan only agrees to actions that benefit its own agenda.

Ohanyan emphasized the importance of peace with Azerbaijan but noted that the current process is premature, especially considering Azerbaijan’s past rhetoric, provocations, and actions against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). He called for a cautious approach to negotiations with Azerbaijan, keeping in mind their history of aggression.
