Latvia Pledges Support for Ukraine’s Infrastructure Development
Latvia has committed to allocating six million euros in 2024 to aid infrastructure development in Ukraine, as announced by the Ukrainian government. A recent meeting between a Latvian delegation and Ukraine’s Infrastructure Ministry highlighted plans to enhance economic ties.
The discussions revolved around logistics routes, increasing transport via Baltic ports, and boosting Ukrainian product exports. Acting Infrastructure Minister Vasyl Shkurakov expressed gratitude for Latvia’s assistance amid the conflict, emphasizing the potential for mutual economic growth through transport cooperation.
Latvia aims to replace agricultural exports from Russia, develop export routes, and collaborate on railway transit and online reservation tools for border crossings. The establishment of a working group signifies both countries’ commitment to identifying transportation solutions for shared benefit.
With a focus on enhancing trade and connectivity, the support from Latvia reflects a broader effort to strengthen relationships and foster economic development in Ukraine.
