The deployment of Kenyan police officers to Haiti for an international anti-gang operation has faced delays, pushing back their arrival in Port-au-Prince. The mission, composed of up to 2,500 personnel, aims to combat gangs controlling the Haitian capital with violence and criminal activities.
Despite Kenya’s commitment and financing by the United States, the arrival of the officers has been postponed due to legal challenges and recent unrest in Haiti. Two hundred officers scheduled for departure on Tuesday were put on standby, with reasons ranging from logistical unpreparedness to delays in receiving the team in Haiti.
With the situation still uncertain, the mission’s progress remains uncertain, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the operation and the safety of those involved.
