British climber still missing as Kenyan’s death highlights tragic week on Everest

A British climber and his guide are missing on Everest, while a climber from Kenya has tragically died. This adds to the recent loss of two Mongolian climbers on the mountain. Joshua Cheruiyot Kirui and his Sherpa guide have been missing above the Hillary Step since Wednesday.

Rescuers found Kirui’s body about 62 feet below the peak, but his guide Nawang remains missing. Another British man, Daniel Paul Paterson, and his guide are also missing after an accident near the South Summit.

With over 7,000 climbers having scaled Everest since 1953, the risks and challenges of the climb remain. Our thoughts are with those missing, and the search and rescue teams are working diligently to locate them amidst the treacherous conditions.
