Bengal BJP alleges Mamata, Abhishek fuelled Nandigram violence pre-polls

Kolkata: The West Bengal BJP accused TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee of instigating violence in Nandigram ahead of the May 25 polls. BJP’s state general secretary and spokesperson Jagannath Chattopadhyay blamed the Chief Minister and her nephew for the unrest, claiming their comments led to violence in Nandigram under the Tamluk Lok Sabha constituency.

Allegations of vandalism by local BJP leaders and workers were made by TMC leader Rajib Banerjee, while BJP’s Nandigram MLA Suvendu Adhikari visited the affected area. The BJP leader highlighted the ruling party’s lack of faith in democracy, with fears of losing all eight seats in the upcoming polls.

Chattopadhyay emphasized voters’ readiness to respond through their votes, especially after Mamata Banerjee’s controversial remarks about monks of Bharat Sevashram Sangha and Ramakrishna Mission. He urged the Election Commission to ensure impartiality to uphold the integrity of the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal.
