Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah welcomed students returning from Kyrgyzstan at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi following recent mob attacks in Bishkek. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar estimated that over 3,000 Pakistani students have fled Kyrgyzstan, with numbers expected to reach 4,000. CM Murad stated that 205 students had arrived, with arrangements made for them to return to their hometowns.
He noted that 180 students remained in Kyrgyzstan, but the Sindh government will cover repatriation costs. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and PM Shehbaz Sharif’s committee have initiated efforts to accommodate returning students in Pakistani medical colleges. CM Murad commended PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for aiding the students.
290 students being brought to Peshawar
KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur shared that 290 students are en route to Peshawar on a special flight from Kyrgyzstan, supported by the KP government. A video inside the cabin showed the students cheering for the safe return. The KP government has covered all expenses for the students. The aircraft is expected to land in Peshawar by evening.
