Israeli Assault on Jenin Leaves 12 Dead, Dozens Injured
The death toll from an Israeli assault on the city of Jenin in the northern part of the occupied West Bank has risen to 12, with dozens more injured according to the Palestinian health ministry. The raid, which began on Wednesday, has caused widespread destruction of infrastructure and loss of civilian lives.
Among the victims are children as well as a surgeon, Usaeed Jabareen, from the government hospital. The assault has sparked outrage from Palestinian authorities, with President Mahmoud Abbas condemning the Israeli regime for its indiscriminate violence and destruction of hospitals, cities, and villages.
Hamas has labeled the raid a “massacre,” pointing to it as further evidence of the oppressive nature of the occupying regime. The assault comes as part of a wider escalation of aggression by Israel across the West Bank following the launch of a genocidal war against Gaza on October 7.
With at least 517 Palestinians killed in the occupied territories since the onset of the war on Gaza, the violence shows no sign of abating, leaving communities in fear and mourning.
