The Swedish government has committed to providing a support framework for Ukraine, pledging 75 billion Swedish krona ($7 billion) in military assistance from 2024 to 2026. This brings the total of Stockholm’s civilian and military aid to Ukraine to over 100 billion Swedish krona (over $9 billion) since the beginning of the full-scale war.
According to a joint press release by the Swedish defense and finance ministries, Sweden will increase support to Ukraine, allocating 25 billion Swedish krona ($2.3 billion) per year for military aid. This framework may include equipment donations, financial contributions, and support for defense equipment procurement.
Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson mentioned that it could take up to two years to boost production capacity and provide more assistance to Ukraine. The agreement on the framework was reached with the Sweden Democrats party, which supports the ruling parties in parliament.
