Several European Union countries have also expressed their intention to recognize Palestine, emphasizing the importance of a two-state solution for lasting peace in the region. Norway, although not part of the EU, aligns with this stance and has been a strong advocate for a two-state solution.
Prime Minister Støre pointed out that the violence in the region is predominantly attributed to Hamas and other militant groups that oppose a two-state solution. This decision by Norway follows a recent UN General Assembly vote that granted Palestine additional rights within the UN, a move supported by Australia despite not officially recognizing Palestine as a state.
