Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed his condolences to Ayatollah Khamenei in Tehran for the tragic demise of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi during a recent meeting. Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated the condolences and emphasized the strong historical and geographical ties between Iran and Armenia.
Khamenei reiterated Iran’s commitment to strengthening relations with Armenia under the guidance of Mr. Mokhber. He emphasized the strategic importance of the two countries’ relations and the need for caution given opposition to their partnership.
Pashinyan expressed shock over the passing of President Raisi and his entourage in a helicopter crash, but expressed confidence in Iran’s leadership. The crash occurred when President Raisi was returning from a border region inauguration in East Azarbaijan.
The tragic accident claimed the lives of President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian, and other officials. Five days of public mourning have been declared by Ayatollah Khamenei in honor of the victims.
