The former Director General of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF DG), Salihu Lukman, has threatened to take legal action against the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for alleged breaches of the party’s rules and regulations.
In an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lukman cited violations of the Nigerian Constitution and the Electoral Act. He criticized the party leadership for not adhering to principles of consultation and respect for agreements.
Lukman, who once held the position of APC’s Vice National Chairman North West, demanded a return to constitutional and legal order in the party by June 7. He highlighted the party’s failure to convene meetings of key organs, as well as the appointment of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje as national chairman in violation of the zoning formula.
Expressing concern over the undermining of democracy within the ruling party, Lukman emphasized the importance of upholding the laws that govern political parties and their leadership.
The open letter, dated May 21, 2024, was also addressed to several prominent figures within the APC, signaling Lukman’s determination to address the issues raised.
