An attempted coup in the Democratic Republic of Congo involving a US citizen, Benjamin Zalman-Polun, has been quickly thwarted by authorities. Zalman-Polun, described as a medical marijuana entrepreneur, was reportedly involved in mining interests with another individual, Malanga. Despite claiming support from Americans, the detained recruiter for Malanga admitted lack of actual backing.
