Network Against Corruption and Trafficking Initiative (NACAT) has urged anti-graft agencies to investigate former Delta governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for alleged misappropriation of state funds. Tega Oghenedoro, the Executive Director Investigation of NACAT, called for the probe during a press conference in Abuja. The group alleges that billions of naira were misused under Okowa’s administration and has submitted petitions to the EFCC and ICPC for investigation.
According to NACAT, Okowa is accused of looting over N500 billion from the state, leaving a debt profile of N480 billion and unfinished projects worth over N150 billion. The group emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in governance.
In response, Okowa’s spokesperson, Mr. Olise Ifeajika, acknowledged the allegations but defended Okowa’s tenure, stating that most claims were baseless. He commended NACAT for their whistleblowing efforts but urged them to allow the appropriate authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.
