Taiwanese Company Secures Deal to Build Electric Buses in Paraguay
Paraguayan authorities have inked a memorandum of understanding with Taiwan’s Master Transportation to manufacture electric buses for the South American nation. The deal was finalized during President Santiago Peña’s visit to Taiwan with Industry and Commerce Minister Javier Giménez representing the Paraguayan delegation. Master Transportation President Ting-Fa Wu was present on behalf of the DMIT e-Bus manufacturers.
The Taiwanese company aims to build the first plant for electric bus chassis and fast-charging bodies in Paraguay, intending to enhance the local electric bus supply chain and create job opportunities. The initiative also includes comprehensive after-sales services, such as maintenance and technical support, as well as advanced traffic and fleet management systems.
The Industry Ministry will provide support to Master Transportation with incentive measures for plant establishment, including infrastructure, tax incentives, and job training. President Peña emphasized the significance of attracting technology and industrial companies to advance Paraguay as a sustainable and technologically advanced nation.
The bus manufacturing plant in Paraguay is poised to support the country’s bus replacement program and extend its production to other Mercosur countries, offering substantial job opportunities and internships. Master Transportation’s commitment to implementing cutting-edge electric buses highlights a significant step towards sustainable public transportation in Paraguay.
