The Sindh government has decided not to have early summer vacations this year. Instead, all public and private schools under the school education and literacy department will close from June 1 as per schedule, with vacations ending on July 31. This decision aims to prioritize the safety and comfort of students amidst the scorching heat waves in the region.
Despite a week-long heatwave affecting several cities in Sindh, Karachi remains relatively cooler, with the temperature reaching 36.3°C on Monday. In light of the extreme weather conditions, the government postponed intermediate examinations for a week, rescheduling them to begin on May 27.
In a related move, the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) also postponed ongoing matriculation exams from May 21 to May 27, with new dates starting from May 28. These steps have been taken to ensure the well-being of students and to prevent any health risks associated with the high temperatures.
