PTI’s Parvez Elahi released after 11 months on bail in illegal appointment case – LHC Pakistan

Parvez Elahi, a senior leader of the PTI, was released from Kot Lakhpat jail after the Lahore High Court granted him bail in a case involving an alleged illegal appointment during his time as Punjab’s chief minister. The court accepted his bail petition and ordered his release, with Elahi returning to Zahoor Elahi Palace. Elahi had been in detention since last year, facing multiple arrests and releases in connection with the case.

The accusations revolve around the appointment of Muhammad Khan Bhatti as principal secretary to the chief minister during Elahi’s tenure, with claims of manipulating testing service results to favor certain candidates. Despite being discharged in some cases, Elahi faced continued legal challenges leading to his detention. Political figures like PTI Senator Faisal Javed have praised Elahi’s loyalty and commitment to the party.

This legal saga has been ongoing since Elahi’s initial arrest in June last year, with various court appearances and investigations into corruption allegations. Despite facing setbacks, Elahi’s release marks a significant development in a case that has drawn public attention.
