Protests for Palestine persist at US, Australian universities – Yemen Press Agency

Student protests in support of Palestine and Gaza persist in American and Australian universities despite warnings from administrations. The Supreme Court in London ruled against broader police powers to restrict peaceful protests.

At ‘Yale’ University, 150 students protested during a graduation ceremony, while ‘Drexel’ University students in Philadelphia set up a camp in solidarity with Gaza. ‘Wesleyan’ University students agreed to halt investments in Israeli-linked companies.

Students at the University of ‘Melbourne’ protest for a seventh day, with two arrests at the University of ‘Queensland’. The London court ruled police powers to suppress protests as “unlawful”. Civil rights group ‘Liberty’ sued the government over these powers.

Judges ruled in favor of ‘Liberty’, deeming the regulations “unlawful”. The fight for the right to protest continues amidst ongoing student demonstrations in support of Palestine and Gaza.
