Missing Kashmiri Poet and Journalist: IHC Orders Government to Recover Ahmed Farhad Shah
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the government to recover Kashmiri poet and journalist Ahmed Farhad Shah by Friday, following his alleged abduction last week. His wife filed a petition in the IHC, urging for his safe return and accountability of those responsible.
During the hearing, Attorney General Mansoor Usman assured the court of Farhad’s rescue, emphasizing the government’s commitment. Justice Kayani stressed the state’s duty to prevent such incidents, emphasizing the need for concrete actions in the case.
The court also summoned the Secretaries of Defense and Interior for the next hearing, expressing dissatisfaction with the progress. Justice Kayani warned of calling Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and cabinet members if necessary, questioning the dominance of spy agencies over the law.
With a FIR lodged and police investigation underway, the court emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency in the case. The government is expected to ensure Farhad’s recovery by Friday, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
