Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, participated in the International Conference on Nuclear Security (ICONS 2024) in Vienna on May 20. The conference, with over 130 countries in attendance, focused on “Shaping the Future” of nuclear security. A minute of silence was observed to honor the Iranian officials who recently passed away in a helicopter crash.

Minister Mirzoyan emphasized Armenia’s commitment to non-proliferation and cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He highlighted the importance of adapting national nuclear security frameworks to address evolving threats and shared Armenia’s efforts in enhancing nuclear security at its power plant.

Armenia’s dedication to nuclear security, safety, and non-proliferation was reiterated, along with the focus on developing an international treaty against attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities. The conference aimed to foster collaboration and innovation for a safer future by addressing current challenges and setting priorities for the IAEA’s nuclear security plan.
