Syria has announced a three-day official general mourning period following the tragic death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and other high-ranking Iranian officials. The Syrian state agency SANA confirmed this decision.
During this mourning period, flags will be lowered to half-mast across the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as in all embassies and diplomatic missions abroad, as reported by the state news agency.
The fatal helicopter crash occurred on May 19 while President Raisi was landing in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province. The President, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other officials, was returning from the inauguration of a reservoir on the Iran-Azerbaijan border. Unfortunately, all the occupants on board lost their lives in the tragic incident.
