Poland Joins Sky Shield Initiative with European Investment Bank

The Polish government signed a 300 million euros contract with the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the construction of its part of the pan-European air defense. This initiative, led by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, aims to create an Iron Dome-style air defense system covering multiple European NATO member states.

Tusk announced plans to present the project of building an Iron Dome over Europe, emphasizing the practicality and importance of a pan-European air defense. The development of satellite and reconnaissance systems, funded by the EIB loan, will play a crucial role in this project.

The European Sky Shield Initiative, proposed by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, is set to utilize advanced anti-ballistic systems like IRIS-T, Patriot, and Arrow 3. With the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, strengthening air defense capabilities in Europe is of utmost importance for regional security.
