Justice Served: Governor Vows to Sign Death Warrant for Mosque Explosion Culprit
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has promised to sign a death warrant for Shafiu Abubakar if he is found guilty of the horrific mosque explosion in Gadan village, Kano State. Abubakar, who set the local mosque on fire during morning prayers, resulting in 17 deaths and critical injuries to 24 family members, has been arrested.
During a visit to victims at Murtala Specialists Hospital, Governor Yusuf emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and holding Abubakar accountable. The incident, classified as a family dispute, was described as a devilish act by the culprit.
An Upper Shariah court in Kano has remanded Abubakar in prison on charges of mischief by fire, causing grievous hurt, and culpable homicide. Although the suspect pleaded guilty, the court adjourned the case due to lack of legal representation.
The Governor reaffirmed the government’s determination to see the case through, maintaining that the culprit will face the consequences of his actions. Justice will prevail for the victims of this tragic and senseless act of violence.
