ICC prosecutor Karim Khan seeks arrest warrants for three Hamas leaders and two Israeli leaders, calling for equal treatment under the law to avoid its collapse. The warrants, if issued, will require countries like South Africa to arrest and extradite the accused for trial at the ICC.
Khan’s application, announced decisively through a press release, aims to address alleged crimes committed by both Hamas and the Israeli government. By emphasizing equal application of the law, Khan warns of the consequences of selective justice.
“Let us today be clear on one core issue: if we do not demonstrate our willingness to apply the law equally, if it is seen as being applied selectively, we will be creating the conditions for its collapse,” stated Khan.
